LG Corporation (or LG Group) which is formerly Lucky Goldstar from 1983 to 1995 is a South Korean multinational conglomerate corporation. It is founded by Koo In-hwoi and has been managed by successive generations of his family. LG group is the fourth largest chaebol in South Korea. Its headquarters are situated in the LG Twin Towers building in Yeouido-dong, Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul. LG works to make electronics, chemicals, and telecommunications products and is operating subsidiaries like LG Electronics, Zenith, LG Display, LG Uplus, LG Innotek, LG Chem, and LG Energy Solution in over 80 countries.

Corporation was been established as Lak Hui Chemical Industrial Corp. in 1947 by Koo In-hwoi. In 1952, Lak Hui (pronounced “Lucky”; now LG Chem) had become the first South Korean company for entering the plastics industry.

As the company had expanded its plastics business, it had also established GoldStar Co. Ltd. (now LG Electronics Inc.) in 1958. Both companies Lucky and GoldStar was merged to form Lucky-Goldstar in 1983.

GoldStar had produced South Korea’s first radio. Many consumer electronics were been sold under the brand name GoldStar, while some other household products were been sold under the brand name of Lucky. The Lucky brand had become famous for hygiene products like as soaps and HiTi laundry detergents. The brand was also been associated with its Lucky and Perioe toothpaste. LG is continuing to manufacture some of these products for the South Korean market, such as laundry detergent.
