So Let’s read the full guide to know about the types of mobile phone batteries to be assured which device should be perfect to use as per our requirement.

Types of mobile phone batteries

  • Lithium Polymer
  • Lithium Ion
  • Nickel Cadmium
  • Nickel Metal Hydride
  • New Lithium Technology

Lithium Polymer

Lithium Polymer battery is one of the most advanced batteries which are available in the market in this modern era. Most of the manufacturers use Lithium Polymer battery which are made up of plastic and being made of plastic these can be used in any mobile phones measuring from 5.2mm to 10mm thickness. They are one of the strongest battery used in a mobile phone. These type of batteries can explode if they aren’t manufactured correctly. The Lithium Polymer battery does not suffer from memory effect and can provide 40 percent more battery life than other type of batteries.

Lithium Ion

The lithium ion battery is an advanced type of battery that can provide a high charging capacity on basis of the size and weight of the battery. The lithium ion battery can be more expensive, and they may not be compatible with the old generation mobile phones. The lithium ion batteries do not remember the charge cycle, and so the battery capacity can not be reduced.

Nickel Cadmium

This type of the battery suffers from memory effect and so the memory effect results in reducing the capacity of the battery and and also it’s lifespan. This is irritating and underwhelming for everyone because to avoid this problem it needs to be discharge and then recharged. Nickel Cadmium is made of some toxic materials which are known to be harmful to health. Due to these reasons the smartphone manufacturers have stopped using these batteries.

Nickel Metal Hydride

The Nickel Metal Hydride battery is kind of an upgraded Nickel Cadmium battery with the same size as the latter. The difference is that the Nickel Metal Hydride battery offers 30 to 40 percent more battery life. These cells also can be affected by memory as well as the nickel cadmium. But they are not made up of toxic materials and are known not to be harmful to nature. The voltage of this battery can drop after several charges that can be after 100 counts and can lead them to explode. So these type of batteries are also skipped by the mobile phone manufacturers.

New Lithium Technology

The latest technology in recent times is the Lithium technology. This type of battery is 1000 times stronger than it’s lithium predecessors. This type of battery offers battery life of one complete day with just one minute of charge.

Bottom line

We can select devices perfectly after knowing about the battery types and can assure that the battery of the device won’t harm us or our device won’t get explode if we avoid the nickel cadmium and nickel metal hydride.
